Why You Should Go to Hilton Head Island in 2015

What makes Hilton Head Island so special is its subtlety. You wouldn’t know just by looking at it, but there are world-class golf courses and upscale restaurants scattered around the island. Visitors to Hilton Head can expect pleasant beaches, boutique shopping, and a variety of outdoor activities.

The island has a tasteful take on extravagance which is reflected in accommodation and shopping options. Visitors to Hilton Head have a wide choice of places to stay around the island: from all-inclusive resorts to private Airbnb accommodations, you’ll find all the comforts of home. Renting villas and condominiums are the common type of lodging for visitors. They’re usually fully equipped, spacious, and easily accessible.

While the island is filled with great shopping options, the best place for a unique souvenir is the Village at Wexford. Find contemporary American art, artisanal olive oil, or the one of a kind Goat Island treasure boxes. Once you’ve found what you were looking for, take relaxation to the next level by resting your feet at the FACES DaySpa.

Indulge in Lowcountry Cuisine

There are a number of popular restaurants on Hilton Head Island and any of them will make a great choice. For a truly special experience try The Sage Room in Heritage Plaza, which gives Lowcountry eating a fine dining upgrade. The old Hollywood decor in this out of sight restaurant will make you feel like you’re back in the time of Sinatra. Reserve in advance for a place at the chef’s table where you can watch the chefs create exquisite braised short ribs and roasted crab cakes in the open plan kitchen.

For those of you with a sweet tooth, be sure to stop by Chocolate Canopy. The shop has made gourmet chocolate treats in Hilton Head for over 30 years. This family owned business has a meticulous process and they only use the highest quality cocoa. Be sure to try the sea salt caramel confections!

Everything You Can’t Do in the City

The island is relaxing, but it sure isn’t sleepy. You’ll never run out of things to do on a vacation to Hilton Head. Watersports and golf are the go-to activities on a trip to Hilton Head Island. You can enjoy kayaking, fishing, waterskiing, and so much more. For a truly luxe experience, rent a catamaran and take it out on Calibogue Sound. You can visit other islands and you may even catch a glimpse of a dolphin!

With over 20 golf courses to choose from, avid golfers will not be disappointed. For top quality green and a beautiful view, check out the Ocean Course – one of the only oceanfront fairway on the island.

South Carolina may not be the first place that springs to mind when you hear ‘luxury getaway’ but it certainly should be up there. Hilton Head Island is The Hamptons of the south – it’s where people come to get away from the city with added Lowcountry charm. You should be one of them!
